Driving to Queenstown after the horseback ride was kind of treacherous. It began to rain and the roads were getting ever more windy. We made it to our hostel (Southern Laughter) in the middle of the afternoon. This hostel, like the one in franz josef was owned by Sir Cedrics. All we knew is this meant more free soup.
After filling up on vegetable soup, we all decided to explore Queenstown a bit. The town is relatively small, but really well laid out along a gorgeous lake. While touristy and overpriced in some parts of the downtown, Queenstown shows its humbleness when you encounter its people.
The next day we would walk through the town looking for the bakery, our search futile, half of us ended up at McDonald's, the other half at Fergberger, a notorious hamburger place in Queenstown. We had all done luging in Rotorua and loved it, so we decided that would be the morning activity, having already planned the bungey jump for the afternoon.
Taking the gondola up revealed more supreme views of the entire town and backdrop. The rain managed to let up for just 10 minutes so we could all capture really clear views of the surroundings. Otherwise, we would be riding down the tracks soaked. A few of us ended early and sat up at a cafe where I got a hot chocolate.
The crawl started at the Buffalo Bar and we had no idea where we were going after that. It was 25 dollars each to join the crawl. Included in that price was a shot at the door of every bar attended-there were six, and two-for ones, drink specials, etc with presentation of the wrist band after that. The night got interesting very quickly to say the least.
I totally forget the second bar that we went to, if only because we were there for 10 minutes. The rule of the pub crawl is that you have to travel with the group to get your free shot/drink at the door. This posed a dilemma for us when we learned that a free drink was to be given out at a different bar (World Bar, one not on the crawl) upon entering and telling the bartender ANY Will Farrel quote. We sprinted across Queenstown, told him our quotes, finished our drinks in record time, and ran back to the pub crawl making it just in time for the move to the next bar.
The second bar;
ironically the only picture I took of the night's festivities.
